Born in 1957, Diane Allison has triumphed over many adversities to become a poet and writer. A lifelong resident of Leeds, Diane was taken into care for truancy when she was twelve and started writing poetry at 15. Aged 18 she became an unmarried mother after giving birth to a son. In the early 80s Diane married, had another son and then divorced. In the 90s Diane had a daughter by her then partner. Tragedy struck again when he died.
Reflections, her second collection of poems, is an eclectic mix of views both personal and political. Her poetry has been featured in the press and the broadcast media.
Diane was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006 and underwent a double mastectomy. Since then she has attended St Gemma’s Day Hospice which has helped her to cope with the illness. Proceeds from a previous poetry collection were donated to the hospice and proceeds from Reflections will also support it.
