Jon Jon Keefe

Born in Bethnal Green – a true Cockney – Jon Jon’s taste for entertaining was nurtured when he was seven, entering countless talent competitions in between films of ‘Roy Rogers’ and ‘Hopalong Cassidy’!

After leaving school at 15, Jon had a succession of jobs during the day, and night sang in the pubs and clubs of London’s East End.

He successfully auditioned to join a vocal group, and went on to perform at The London Palladium and the Windmill Theatre . and over the next 5 years performed in Europe before he deciding to go solo.

He established himself as a leading west end cabaret entertainer. When Benny Hill saw Jon Jon at The Talk of the Town he invited him to join the select performers on his TV show, The Benny Hill Show, where he appeared for the next 19 years.

Jon Jon went on to become an impresario at North London’s most famous nightclub, The Starlight Room, in Enfield, where he booked world-famous acts and compered the shows.

As the world of showbiz changed Jon Jon retired from the business.

Having worked and known some of the greatest names in showbiz, Jon Jon sat down and wrote I Was Benny Hill's Toy Boy a memoir charting 50 years in showbiz, depicting a unique slice of showbiz social history.
